Laurel Heights provides intensive residential treatment to children and adolescents, ages 4-21 with severe and complex psychiatric and behavioral difficulties impacting multiple areas of functioning. Children are placed within seven separate cottages based on age, gender and special treatment needs. This ensures that programming can be tailored to specific developmental needs in addition to individualized treatment issues. Treatment addresses:
- Moods disorders, including depression and bipolar symptoms
- Self-injurious, disruptive and aggressive behaviors
- Psychotic symptoms
- Difficulties with impulse control and emotional regulation
- Sexually reactive behaviors
- Trauma symptoms
- Co-occurring Asperger's Syndrome
- Co-occurring developmental disabilities
We view residential treatment as part of a continuum of treatment with the goal of return to the family and community with appropriate treatment and support services when clinically indicated. We strive to provide a highly structured, well-supervised, nurturing, consistent treatment environment that meets the needs of and respects the strengths, preferences and rights of children and their families.
